Day 84 July 3rd. Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse 12.3 miles
The section I chose to ride here is possibly the wildest and remotest part of the whole route, crossing the wilderness of Rannoch Moor between Bridge of Orchy and Kingshouse in Glen Etive. It's worth noting that there is no shelter and in bad weather it's probably a good idea to think twice before setting out on foot or on a bike.

This route starts and finishes at Bridge Of Orchy station on the West Highland Line. There are daily trains from Glasgow Queen Street. The first few miles are on a quiet single-track, well-tarmacked road. Bridge of Orchy. Bridge of Orchy is a tiny settlement that has developed around the point where the old military road to Fort William crossed the River Orchy. This was first built in 1751 by Major Caulfield. There is a hotel beside the main road, a railway station on the line to Fort William and fine views towards the surrounding hills.

This walk starts off at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel. From the front of the hotel turn left along the A82(t) for a short distance and then take the road to the first left, which leads past the side of the hotel and descends to the bridge over the River Orchy..
